STANDING UP FOR ALL AMERICANS
If you oppose racism, sexism, bigotry, and xenophobia, we probably have a lot in common. If you value inclusion, respect, and neighborly communities, we probably have a lot in common. And if you stand for love, hope, and a brighter future, we probably have a lot in common.
That’s why I’ve taken a lead in organizing summits, recruiting candidates for office and encouraging more people to get involved in their government. I may be an elected official, but I know that I work for you, not the other way around.
I have loudly, and proudly, spoken out against racism and for a version of America that is more inclusive. I’ve pledged publicly to fight hate and oppression whenever and wherever it emerges.
Make no mistake; I’m someone who values making a good deal for my constituents and finding common ground with my friends on the other side of the aisle. But there are some things on which there is no room for compromise. Basic American values—honesty, integrity, fairness and acceptance—are chief among them.
I will protect these values as long as I have the honor of being an elected official.
