Welcome, and thanks for visiting my website!
It has been an interesting few years in office, to say the least.
This past budget cycle proved - finally - that Pennsylvania government can work. It wasn't ideal, but nothing in government is, and thanks to the budget we brought home, Allentown and Parkland School Districts both saw massive investment increases. At the same time, we made $20 million in investments to treat our ongoing heroin epidemic while making real strides at closing Pennsylvania's ongoing budget deficit. As a progressive pragmatist, I have regularly voted against efforts by ultraconservatives to ban abortion, gut public education, eviscerate human services and destroy unions. At the same time, I've voted for reasonable compromises for liquor modernization and pension reform. To be clear, much real work remains to be done to restore funding to education and human services, but we've made real strides, and I'm proud of the work we have done.
At the same time, I've learned that being a State Representative is about so much more than how you vote. It's also about what you stand for. I've used my position as a platform for advocating for those with mental illness, and I've used my own story to try to break the stigma which surrounds mental health challenges. I've worked with Republicans to pass laws which have protected rape victims, better secure children in carseats, changed regulations to better protect children in day c ares, and brought real money, investments and jobs back into the 132nd.
I'm proud of the work I've done so far, and I know there is so, so much more left to do. Will you stand with me?
